    Hog Butchering

Last night, I butchered the hog my wife shot at the ranch this weekend. If anyone else finds themselves in a similar situation, I found this awesome guide. Very useful! ;)

Hey Nate! First of all – I love your hog butchering guide by the way. Second of all – how the heck are you?! I don’t do facebook but I found you there anyhow. Looks like you have some exciting stuff going on. Well, I just wanted to say hi and hope we can catch up! Can you believe it has been nearly ten years since we graduated from Trinity?

    (Almost) No-Knead Bread

I tried the Cooks Illustrated modified version of Michael Bittman’s recipe in the NYT. Just waiting for it to cool…

The hurricane must have put us in domestic mode. I found myself making banana bread yesterday, too.

Having to completely restock my refrigerator put me in cooking mode. I did a monkfish sauté and made some panna cotta last night, too. :)

I have used this recipe before. So easy. This reminds me that I should make up a batch for the bread lovers in our family.

Mahi Mahi with Miso and Bok Choy

I made my own version of the famous black cod recipe from Nobu except I used mahi because it was on sale. I thought I’d have a little fun with plating, too. Making food look pretty is a lot harder than you’d think. I’ve got a ways to go on that part.

The recipe that I loosely followed is here:

    Shrimp Creole and Grits

Tonight's dinner. This one took me a few hours. Most of the time went into peeling shrimp and chopping vegetables. Still, it was mighty tasty!

    Masthead Hose Boss

How much innuendo can you get into your company name?

I am the Marketing Manager at Masthead Hose & Supply – home of the Hose Boss. Yes, we do have a brand name that lends itself to inuendo. This was not the original intent, but it sure has brought a lot of hits to our website, http://www.hoseboss.com. Thanks for taking notice of our truck. We used to have a slogan that went with the Hose Boss truck: “You blow, we go.” This referred to the hydraulic hoses on heavy equipment “blowing,” i.e. breaking. We specialize in repairing the broken hoses and thus preventing expensive “down time” on construction sites. On a similar note, someone once told me about an expansion joint manufacturer that used the slogan, “The only joints better than ours aren’t legal.” A different sort of inuendo there.

    I Took the Plunge!

I manually downloaded the iPhone 2.0 firmware and installed it. I'm still waiting for all 7GB+ of my music/video to be synced back over. I can't wait to try out all of my new apps.

Berripop is the bizomb. You’ve got to try out Swirl on W. Gray and Shepherd though.

I’ve heard about Swirl. It’s next on the list! :)
